Damien Bureau
Champ-sur-Layon, Loire

Based in Champ-sur-Layon for nearly 2 decades, Damien has garnered a reputation as one of the most respected vignerons in Anjou. Starting in the early 2000’s, his journey as a winemaker began with stints in vineyards around France including a couple of small domaines in Burgundy. However it wasn’t until a meeting with Sebastien Dervieux in 2006 that he fully committed to one region, taking root in Anjou after Babass lent him a parcel of Chenin Blanc to make his first cuvée, the petillant ‘Saperlipopet’.

After this, he worked for others in the area while collecting a few more small parcels around his village, amassing a current total of 4 hectares, which consist mostly of Pineau d’Aunis, Chenin Blanc and Grolleau. Now he works solely for himself and has also taken over the running of the excellent wine fair, Les Anonymes, in Angers.  His production is small and without compromise, making wines with pure integrity that have a stunning lift and life to them.
