Le Blanc des Garennes 2023
Maker: Domaine Fond Cyprès
Varietal: Grenache Blanc / Viognier / Roussanne
750mL
The 2023 vintage is the first year this wine was made without barrel, instead aged in stainless steel. This was a conscious choice by Laetitia and Rudolphe to move away from old barrel aging for practical reasons like having to replace expensive barrels, but also wanting to opt for a fresher, more acid-focused style of white rather than the richness present in past vintages. The grapes were harvested from the co-planted parcel and then directly pressed before 8 months of élevage. Still 14% and with significant richness, just due to the nature of the grape varieties in such a warm climate, this wine has plenty of structure and a supple waxy character that is balanced by lean acidity. A big white that drinks well young, but will age beautifully.
