New from Antidoot Wilde Fermenten
Drawing on a rich culture of brewing in their home country of Belgium, a love of cider and wine, and a keen interest in the cultivation of all manner of other fruits, herbs and botanicals, the production from brothers Tom and Wim Jacobs is some of the most thought-provoking and sought-after in the world. It becomes hard to classify their output with several disciplines often melded into one bottle.
Based an hour east of Brussels in Belgium’s Hageland region, best known for its fruit production, it is Tom’s family home which acts as the base for the operation. A barn adjacent to the family home houses the brew kit and barrel-store, and the land to the rear is used for an experimental permaculture of fruit trees, vines, hops, herbs and botanicals. Together, the brothers are pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved through beer brewing, cider making and winemaking, often a combination of all three, using mainly what is grown on their property.
At certain times of the year however they will travel to different regions of Belgium and France to harvest fruit they want to experiment further with — trips to Normandy for apples and pears, and Alsace for grapes from Christophe Lindenlaub are commonplace.
We are thrilled to have once again received a small allocation of 8 different cuvées which are all drinking wonderfully right now, each telling their own unique story. If you’re interested to find out more we will be at P Franco this Sunday where we will be pouring an extensive selection of the new releases by the glass.
