C Rouge
Pierre Weber (Alsace)
Pinot Noir • 2020
From clay and limestone soil vineyards on the steep slopes leading down from Husseren-les-Chateaux, some of which fall into the Eichberg Grand Cru. The elevation here is up to 400m which makes it one of the highest vineyard sites in Alsace, imparting a great sense of freshness on the wines.
The grapes were macerated for two weeks in whole bunches before being pressed into old barriques for a 9 month élevage. Elegantly structured, this has a wonderful density to the brambly fruit whilst still being reasonably light on its feet and although delicious now it should reward those patient enough to cellar for a few years.
